The New Christians: Tony Jones
6 Mar 2008
I don’t think I have so many solicitations, by email, and facebook, to read a book, as I have with Tony Jones’ new book ‘The New Christians’.
And I don’t think I have seen so many reviews, recommendations and links to the book, as I read my daily 160 news feeds. So given that, and that Tony is the National Director for Emergent in the USA, I thought I better order a copy of his book.
You catch a free chapter from the book here. When I get my copy I’ll post a review later. Meantime visit Tony’s site where he is tracking all the reviews that are coming his way.
Failing that search ‘Tony Jones Review The New Christians’ on the net, and see how Google must be struggling to index all the incoming links to Tony’s book.

Hi Jason
I had a similar experience when Mosaic Pastor Eric Bryant’s “Peppermint Filled Piñatas” came out. I even joined the Facebook group!! ;-)
Fortunately, Eric’s book hit the spot for me, so I was glad to have been made so clearly aware of its publication.
I’m sure I’ll get round to Tony’s book too.
Peace & blessings

Hi Jason. I read this book a couple of days ago – a great read, and a good overview of the emergent church for someone like me in Australia who isn’t too familiar with emergent things. I did my own (very amateur!) review at http://jubileeman.wordpress.com/2008/06/12/the-new-christians-dispatches-from-the-emergent-frontier-a-brief-review/
I am now reading ‘The Courage to be Protestant’ by David Wells which is really a kind of counterpart to Tony Jones’ book. I am finding Wells’ comments very piercing and challenging about the whole postmodern thing and emergents – again, well worth a read.

I hadn’t seen that book by David Wells, thanks for the heads up.
