I wrote a post titled superficial church back in February, based on some reading of Jean Baudrillard. He passed away yesterday, aged 77, according to Le Monde

.. ‘twas just a simulated death. A post modern death. Post haste ex-post, Alan Sokal (thank God he’s still alive) is probably saying that his death is so obscurely post-death that it means next-to-post-nothing … curious how, for a foil against thinking of “deep church,” the church which lives by dying and giving way its life, the “Simulacra and Simulation” is that we have any life of our own … alas, Morpheus to Neo, ” .. The Matrix is everywhere … in church …” I’m thankful for the puzzle of “deep church,” but I don’t know what it means, nor where it’s going … tho’ I’m betting on that it’s neither Sokal nor Baudrillard archenemies, but rather that Spirit that’s big enough to use them to those who have ears to hear what the Spirit’s saying to the churches … perhaps the pomo part of the death of the Euro church is that there is no singularity “deep church,” only fractured, partial, scaffolded, faithful-errant, muti-form little churches (Rev 1-3, “to the churches”), save in One Torn Body …

Hey Jason…you had mentioned in your Chruchandpomo post that you were going to do a future post in which you do a critique of Baudrillard? Is that still in the works? Will it appear on your blog site or on churchandpomo?
