Get an Overview of Christian Theology by Podcast

I have recommended before the key books I have used and am still using to get an overview of Christian history, and theology.

I’ve been talking with the Author of one of my favourites, Alister McGrath’s ‘Christian Theology: An Introduction’, about podcasting the book as a series for people to listen to, and Dr McGrath has agreed to be involved. In practice it will mean turning the book into a series of podcasts/mp3 downloads. I’m hoping Dr McGrath will undertake some of those, and that we’ll have discussion forums linked to each chapter, that he will participate in.

And my biggest hope of all is that is will be a resource, for many to listen to, and it will be a great way to get an overview of christian history and thought.

Oh, pleeeeeease! This would be an awesome resource! McGrath is a gifted writer and theologian and I totally love his books (although my favourite is “Historical Theology” (and this comes as no surprise to anyone here who actually know me :))

This is a wonderful idea and the discussion about the book could be really, really fruitful to a lot of people. You just HAVE to make this happen!

i love the idea of capturing the thoughts of a gifted theologian on audio record. the insight alone would be worth the time. this may be a good time to use Evoca. you could podcast by skype conversation or cell phone. just a thought. let me know if i can help out in anyway!

by the way, the look of the site is quite nice these days!

That book was a staple for me during my theology degree, as a reference and fallback, and full of interesting stuff.

I love to hear some audio, and the discussions in it. It sounds like an excellent way to consider some of the history and development our theology and practice.

Thanks for you part in bringing these discusison about. I loof forward to the possibility.

Has anyone spent much time with the late Stanley Grenz’s Theology for the Community of God? I’m just wondering how it compares to McGrath’s work.

[...] Some institutions seem to have innovation infused into their organizational DNA; they’re unusually prepared to pioneer new ways of executing their mission, no matter how complicated or challenging that might be. And even while MIT seeks to educate the world, sharing its wealth of world-class, knowledge-based tools with anyone who has an internet connection, the church seems to lag behind. My friend Jason Clark recently introduced us to one method of sharing our rich Christian heritage with an increasingly internet-savvy world. Who will introduce us to the next? [...]
