I’m still not sure how I feel about this. This may be one possible scenario if (like one person pointed out on the original site) people know what they want and they merely want the available information pared down to suit their interests and reading schedules. But I’ve found an echo out here to my concern, that wasn’t even voiced until the end of the film, that people also want information that is true and we know that we’re not getting it. We already know that there is gobs of text generated, but not much truth. It is unlikely that cherry-picking off the text that is available will acquire the truth.
I’ve pretty much pulled out of all news sources because I have lost faith completely that they are interested in anything but what their advertizers are interested in. The text that is available to scoop off of is generated with the entertainment and titilation factor in mind because that is what advertizers need to make their dollars count. I’m not the slightest bit interested in scooping off of that. It’s like what the media did to the AB over the Tsunami disaster. Why would I want to take the time to read that crap?
I posted a blog entry about a book I read about the secret economic practices of the US over the last 50 or so years and I have searched high and low for regular news stories about this book (not counting the usual liberal media that will generate text that hypes the problem to satisfy THEIR advertizers, but won’t dedicate much time or space to the solution. I found one. It was only a book review and not an investigation into the content of the book. I emailed the author and expressed disappointment that he did not push harder into the story to find out if it’s true. Then I told him that the lack of investigation only supports the suspicion that the media is compromised and that we cannot rely on them to deliver truth. No reply. That was the 8th of last month.
The end of the epic vid echoes this concern, but goes on the assumption that we’re all not yet aware of the problem. I think we are and I don’t think we’ll willingly go down that road.
