New Life

At our sunday service, a lady who has been visiting, came over to me with her friend, and said she wanted to respond to the new life Jesus came to bring us.

We have lots of new christians in our church, and most of them have never prayed a prayer. This lady wanted to pray and we did.

Wonderful, celebrating the death and life of christ, and seeing new life birthed in someone else, a new disciple :-) She told me that instead of offering prayers to Buddha, she is now going to be making them to Jesus.

    Hi Jason,

This is a great story! I’m so pleased that VCS continues to grow and that people are naturally coming into the life of the church.

I think that this story highlights beautifuly the way in which God’s Holy Spirit is working so evidently in many peoples lives, often a long time before we come along.

The congregation (as I understand it – among other things) is a place where we faithfully speak and act out our faith together, and make space for others to participate in the art of being Christian.

I loved what Steve Chalke said about God’s holiness being his otheness – the hallmarks being unconditional love and inclusivity. I pray that our churches are places where people can experience both of these godly qualities! I think that these are some of the primary traits of the missional church.

These were some of my thoughts as I read that story and I wanted to share them with you and also encourage you in your work as you partner with God in creating that kind of church.

    Jon.
